In 2017, NEXT Church did some of our best work yet. We honed our work to focus on supporting and equipping congregations, developing leaders, and strengthening the relational fabric of the church so that our congregations are strong and healthy enough to be a sustained, effective, faithful, and moral voice that is engaged in the transformation of our communities for the common good. Read more about all of these efforts below.

As we close out the year, our hope is to engage our broadest of base of supporters ever to deepen our well and sustain the work we’re able to do across the wider Church.

Here’s some of what we did this year:

Here’s why others have decided to support our work:

NEXT Church offers me the opportunity to look at the Church from a fresh perspective, enriched by the inclusivity and diversity of its participants and supporters. I feel NEXT Church lets us have a glimpse of the renewal God is bringing about in our beloved denomination. Investing my time as a NEXT Church Strategy Board member and financially supporting our work feel like faithful acts leaning into God’s future for us.

NEXT Church helps me with the boots-on-the-ground church work that I need to do! For instance, the NEXT Church blog helped my fellow stewardship committee members and me by providing new ideas for a stewardship campaign. The blog reinforced some of the new ideas we were hoping to use this year so we felt confident to venture beyond the “this is the way that we have always done it” stewardship campaign. How wonderful to have a diverse group of people share their innovations with the rest of us!

Suzanne DavisRuling Elder at Hopewell Presbyterian (Huntersville, NC)

I support NEXT Church because NEXT Church supports me. As I was starting out in ministry, NEXT Church challenged me to be a better pastor while also giving me great hope for the church. The conversations and community I found truly helped me navigate my call as a pastor.

Charlene Han PowellExecutive Pastor of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian (New York, NY)
NEXT Church keeps me excited about ministry, like their recent week-long training event on community organizing held in Baltimore. This has given me some new tools that pushed me beyond my comfort zone and better equipped me for the challenges here in the South End of Albany, NY.
