Coordinator of the Preaching for Change Initiative

General Information

Position Title: Coordinator of the Preaching for Change Initiative

Position Type: Part Time

Location: Remote, with occasional travel

Position Summary:

The Coordinator of the Preaching for Change Initiative provides oversight of all aspects of the program. This is initially a 1 year contract position for no more than 60 hours per month, reporting to and working in collaboration with the Program and Operations Director. This role requires occasional travel. The contract is renewable upon review and additional hours can be negotiated as deemed necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Vision and strategic implementation:
    • Works alongside the Designated Strategic Director to ensure the initiative aligns with the overall vision of NEXT Church.
    • Create scaffolding for basic elements/aspects of the initiative
    • Develop and maintain relationships to implement and sustain the initiative
  2. Execute and implement all foundational aspects of the grant proposal, recommending necessary shifts as evaluations are taken into consideration
    • Serving as primary contact with Lilly Endowment Inc. on all aspects of grant implementation
    • In collaboration with the Program and Operations Director, hire all contract facilitators, coaches, and leadership
    • Work alongside cohort coaches to ensure individual and cohort goals are clear
    • Oversee the budget and recommend any financial adjustments
    • Develop an advisory team and/or other programmatic relationships as necessary 
    • Ensure the program is positioned in the NEXT Church ecosystem
  3. Assessment and evaluation 
    • Glean learnings throughout the implementation and execution of the initiative
    • Create initial system to track goals and progress of participants, maintaining program retention throughout the program
    • Create system for regular, ongoing evaluation with coaches, leaders, facilitators, presbyteries, partners, and participants
  4. Communications
    • Promote program(s) in various mediums; including, but not limited to social media and email newsletters.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to diversity, anti-racism, inclusion, and intersectionality
  • Sustained experience with preaching in a local congregation
  • Project management skills with the ability to hold both the big picture and logistics together
  • Team development and leadership
  • Familiarity with the community of the Presbyterian Church (USA) and its theology and polity

Compensation

  • $40/hour for 10-15 hours per week
  • This role does not include pension or benefits
